As the deer…

Psalms 42:1-2 (ESV)
As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?

What a beautiful Psalm, and a beautiful picture of longing for God.
But, just exactly how much does a deer pant for water?
In the dry savannas of South Africa that longing becomes evident because the risks are so high.

Is this the kind of longing that I have for God?
Am I risking everything to draw near to Him?

  1. What a powerful lesson in fellowship that is graphically depicted in nature. Those beasts collectively beat back the lions to get their lost calf. Wow! Not only to draw near to God, but what happens when we lose someone to the roaring lion which is Satan?

    • Hey Nick,
Yes…so many lessons you could get from that video. And that poor calf was a tug-of-war rope for lions and crocs….and still survived.

Just imagine how thirsty those buffalo have to be to venture that close to such dangerous predators…but they need that water to survive.
